Traditionally a Tlingit village, Kake's
population reflects a number of other
cultures today: Tsimshian, Haida, Yupik
as well as some of the 'Lower 48' native
cultures.

The lifestyle of Kake is rich in culture
and traditional values -- which are
passed down to the children of the
community.

Subsistence rests at the very roots of the
history of Kake and is an accepted and
important part of the lifestyle of today's
residents.

The Subsistence way of life is an
important part of the heritage of the
people of Kake.
